Swans 1 Needham Market 1 …

Not the result the Swans were wishing for as the visitors from Suffolk pushed Drax’s boys all the way at Wheatsheaf Park.

It was a strong start for the Bostik Premier 6th placed Swans with Max Worsfold looking strong, supported by Lewis Driver and the pressure paid off in the 19th minute when Mo Bettamer scored to make it 1-0. It looked as though that was a sign for the floodgates to open for the high scoring Swans but it was not to be as opportunities flew by and a massive Buchanan volley would have been a contender for goal of the season … had it not missed the target by a fraction.

As the game moved on the visitors got stronger and looked for the best part that they may well take all 3 points after equalising through Sands on 48 minutes. Both teams looked to break the deadlock but the nearest the Swans got was an a header from Buchanan that flew narrowly past the woodwork.

It was a busy day in the Bostik Premier and the Swans remain in 6th place but deperately need all three points to keep the pressure on the chasing pack. Next Saturday it is a trip to Harlow Town as the play off push continues …

Tonbridge Angels 2 Swans 1 …

Swans go down to an unexpected defeat at Tonbridge Angels on a heavy pitch in Kent.

Despite the conditions the Swans had the balance of the play and took an early initiative through a powerful Daniel Brown strike following goal attempts from both Elliot Buchanan and Mo Bettamer. The Angels, not to be outdone, replied quickly and despite intensive Swans possession took a 2-1 lead into half time.

The second half was much the same as the Swans attacked the hosts but, rewarded with some lively front play, sealed their 3 points.

Despite today’s defeat the Swans remain in the playoffs as only Margate managed to secure a victory.

A good turnout from Swans fans but it was not to be and onwards to the MIDDLESEX Cup semi-final at Wealdstone on Tuesday evening. The Stones were 3-1 winners at Truro City today and sit in 12th place in the National South.

Swans 4 Merstham 2 …

Swans continued their run of good form with another 3 points against inform Merstham on a very wet Wheatsheaf Park. The win keeps Draxs squad in the play off places as all the teams at the top achieved points and saw Elliot Buchanan take his personal league tally to 24 with a superb hat-trick. Swans other scorer was the impressive Mo Bettamer who worked tirelessly up front with Buchs and supported by Max Worsfold and Lewis Driver.

Swans midfield were in fine form as Waddah Ahmidi showed some great form and was unlucky to strike the post with a fine effort. A good all round first half saw the Swans go in 2-0 up at half time with a controlled first half that  saw the visitors picking up a collection of bookings. Three changes for the Moatsiders saw them come out flying to pull one back immediately but a penalty for a foul on Lewis Driver ensured the Swans moved to a two goal lead thanks to Buchs powering past an unlucky Ashlee Jones.

The visitors were quick and accurate and the victory seemed in doubt on occasions but Drax will be pleased with this. 3 points, 68 goals and 55 league points so far in the campaign.
