On a freezing cold night Swans won through to the Middlesex Cup Semi Finals against Wealdstone with a Penalty shoot out win against a challenging Uxbridge side.
Swans, with several Academy players on the bench, gave a start to Elliot Baptiste playing in front of Max Worsfold who played much deeper tonight. Swans started brighly with Hippolyte featuring well with a couple of strong runs. However it was Max who rose to the occasion as the Swans twice fell behind to McGuire goals for the Reds as he scored a brace for the Drax’s boys. His second, 3 minutes into added time, was a superb finish and sent the game into a penalty shoot out.
Max again puts the Swans 1-1 following Uxbridge’s penalty opener but the impetus went to the Yellows as Herdman saved three in a row as both Cash Hippolyte and Daniel Brown had their penalties saved by McCarthy. It was Academy star Oluwole and the Miller-Rodney who sent the Swans through.
Back to the league on Saturday with a home game against Worthing FC.
