Having made an impressive start to the campaign Drax’s squad head into the August Bank Holiday on a high. Eleven goals, coming from six different players, in the last two games follow a creditable draw at Dulwich Hamlet. Saturday’s hosts, Dorking Wanderers, will be keen to put a stop to the free scoring Swans after dismissing Swans FA Cup opponents, Met Police, 4-1 in their only home fixture this season. Dorking have put to gether a strong squad and despite away defeats at Leiston and Thurrock the losses were only by a single goal. KO is at 3pm at Dorking’s current ground at Westhumble.
On Monday, also with a 3pm kick off, Swans welcome Wingate and Finchley who recovered from two heavy defeats to win at Needham Market. Again, Wingate have put together a strong squad, now including ex-Swans Vanderhyde and Charles-Smith, and neither game over the Bank Holiday will be taken for granted.
Swans boss says … “I thought we would get off to a decent start if I’m honest, maybe five points when I look at the first three games but clearly I didn’t expect this. Seven points, 12 goals scored and letting in one goal in the first minute of the opening match against a side going for promotion. As manager you’ve got to be pleased. I just want us to keep looking dangerous and hopefully to keep scoring the goals!
