Swans stormed to an impressive win on the first home game of the Bostik Premier League last night thrashing ‘new boys’ Tooting & Mitcham United 6-0 at Wheatsheaf Park.
Drax mixed it up a bit following Saturday’s draw at Dulwich Hamlet by bringing in Chevron McLean and Wadah Ahmidi in to start the game whilst the visitors had former Swans Merson and Bassett starting and Chase O’Neill on the bench. The Swans started how they meant to carry on and Elliot Buchanan struck twice in the first 12 minutes to open his league account and make it 10 goals since returning this season. The Terrors had Kevin McLaren dismissed for a second yellow card as early as the 22 minute and opened the door for a scoring rout for the Swans with Mitchal Gough powering home a header [pic AKD] in the 40th minute for the rampant Swans to go in 3-0 up at half-time.
The second half was no different as the Swans outclassed Tooting and Max Worsfold added the fourth on 50 minutes. Drax replaced Buchs with ‘Cash’ Hippolyte and later McLean and Ahmidi with Gilbey and Baptiste respectively but it just refreshed the play and Mo Bettamer struck in the 66th and 90th minutes to send Swans into 3rd place in these early days of the campaign. Two late bookings for the Brown brothers slightly tarnished the evening but a warm glow was over Wheatsheaf Park ahead of the visiting Kingstonian on Saturday.
