Swans made an impressive start to the 2017/18 campaign with a creditable 1-1 draw at play-off favourites Dulwich Hamlet despite going behind on 4 minutes.
Draxs starting line up included 5 new faces, Jones, Webb, Gilbey, Driver and the returning Buchanan. It was not a good start for the Swans as Dulwich took the lead after 4 minutes through Nathan Green, who’s own fortunes changed early following an injury. Ex-Swan Sanchez Ming taking his place. Swans pressured and came close when Gough headed over from a Max Worsfold cross and Tommy Brewer had the ball in the net shortly after but the goal was ruled offside. With the score 1-0 at half-time the game could go either way and it was the Swans who took the initiative with new signing Lewis Driver equalising on 63 minutes.
Swans used two subs, Ahmidi on for the scorer Driver and ‘Cash’ Hippolyte on for Bayley Brown. Dulwich had 3 players cautioned as they pursued a winning start but it was the Swans fans who will go home the happiest from a great crowd of 1029. Well done to the Swans fans who made the trip and good luck to our hosts for the season …
