Swans Squad taking shape ahead of opener …


Johnson ‘Draxs’ Hippolyte – First Team Manager – Appointed to the role in mid February 2016, ‘Draxs’ has a wealth of managerial experience earned with long spells at Yeading and Maidenhead United, and a period at Chesham United. Honours included two promotions and an FA Cup 3rd Round with Yeading, and a promotion to the Conference South and 6th placed finish with Maidenhead, whom he also took to the FA Cup 1st Round – not to mention a shelf’s worth of county cup medals. His playing career included league titles with Aldershot Town and Chesham United (twice), and periods with Maidenhead, Yeading, and Chertsey Town.
Dereck Brown – Assistant Manager – Joined the Club in mid-February 2016, along with Hippolyte, alongside whom he worked at Yeading and Maidenhead United. An illustrious playing career took in Wembley, Hendon, a highlight at Woking where he was an FA Trophy winner (vs Runcorn), Walton & Hersham, Welling United, and Yeading. Also assists Mark Fabian in running top veterans’ side Manor FC. Represented the Middlesex FA.
Pat Palmer – Goalkeeper Coach – Joined in February 2016, having previously coached at Hemel Hempstead Town, Maidenhead United, Marlow, and Flackwell Heath. Was also involved in motor sport, as a Formula One technician with Williams.
Martyn Spong – Coach – Former Manager at Maidenhead United and joint manager at Enfield, he has been Staines Town’s Academy Director since 2003, and Reserve Team Manager since 2010. Played and coached extensively in the local area, including at Hanwell Town and Brentford (where he started the Football in the Community scheme). He worked as Staines’ Coach and Assistant Manager under Marcus Gayle, and Coach once more under Nicky Forster. Following a two game stint as Caretaker Manager a year earlier, he again stepped up to manage the team from Jan-Feb 2016 after Mr Forster’s resignation.

Max Banger – Sports & Rehabilitation Therapist – Joined Staines Town on 3 December 2016, having most recently carried out similar duties at Margate FC. He started with Yeading, and then Hayes & Yeading United, before working with Draxs at Maidenhead United. Normally known simply as Max, Del, or Banger, his real name is Dalbir.

David Gumbs – Fitness Coach / Chief Scout – Completing ‘Draxs’s backroom staff, he too had coached with him at Yeading and Maidenhead United, as well as playing for Chesham United (where he won Isthmian Divisions 1 and 2) and Chalfont St Peter.

Craig Berry – Kit Man – Recruited to the post on the last day of 2016, Craig is very experienced in the role, having shadowed his late father, Ron, who performed similar duties under Graham Westley at QPR, Enfield, Kingstonian, Farnborough Town, Stevenage Borough, and Rushden & Diamonds.


Wadah AHMIDI – central midfield, 26
Wadah joined the Club in February 2016, but had to wait until the following month for his international clearance from Sweden to be granted, having appeared in Division 2 there for Karlstad BK. He started with London Tigers as a 9 year old, and stayed at that club right through to their First Team playing in the South Midlands League. He then moved to Maidenhead United of the Conference South in 2010, before making the move abroad, first to Sitra FC in Bahrain, and then to Sweden.
Elliot BAPTISTE – central midfield
A former Crystal Palace youngster who joined the Staines Town / Kingston College Academy in June 2016, helping them to runners-up spots in the Ryman Youth League and Middlesex Youth Cup last season. His eye for goal took the eye when making his first senior outings for the Club in pre-season 2017.
Bobby BEHZADI – right back, 36
Re-signed for Staines Town as a player shortly after joining as a Coach with Johnson Hippolyte in February 2016, having had a short spell registered for the Club in 2008 when he made no appearances. Elevated to Player/Coach for the early part of 2016/17. While with Maidenhead United, he had won promotion and two Berks & Bucks Senior Cups, and he had previously been a league winner with Yeading, and appeared for Stevenage Borough and Hayes.
Mohamed BETTAMER – striker / winger, 24
Mo joined Staines town at the start of the 2016/17 season, having spent the previous three seasons with Al Ahly (Benghazi) – a club who play in the Libyan Premier League which has not operated since 2014 owing to the unrest in the north African nation. Mo also gained U21 caps for Libya, and played 7 games in the CAF African Champions’ League. Born in London, he started his career in Watford’s juniors and U18s, then moved on to London Tigers, Hayes & Yeading United, and Hampton & Richmond Borough before taking up the option to play in his father’s country of birth.
Rafiq BETTAMER – central defender, 21
Mo’s younger brother joined Staines Town in November 2016, having been training with the Club for several weeks previously. Soon after signing at Staines, he also dual registered with Bedfont Sports. Before this, he had played for London Tigers. In 2014, he had a spell on trial with Watford, followed by 6 months at the Stevenage Academy, and has also gained U20 caps for Libya in matches against Turkey and Tunisia. Spent much of last season, and the beginning of this, dual registered at Uxbridge FC. He is 6’2½” tall.
Tommy BREWER – midfield, 24
Joined in November 2014 from Isthmian Premier neighbours Hampton & Richmond Borough. He has picked up a lot of experience in Middlesex, with stints at Bedfont Town (the now sadly-defunct Southern League club), Wealdstone, and earlier in his career with Crawley Town up to 2011. He is a versatile player, generally operating in midfield. Attracted several offers to remain in the Conference South over the summer, but opted to commit to Staines, whom he has captained since 2016.
Bayley BROWN – centre midfield, 20
The 6’4” tall younger son of Assistant Manager Dereck Brown, Bayley was an Academy player at Tottenham Hotspur for four years, before joining Maidenhead United as a member of their Under 18 team. Spent 2015/16 with Northwood in the Evo-Stik Southern League, helping them to win the Middlesex Senior Cup, before switching to Staines Town in July 2016. Last season he also dual registered with neighbours Egham Town, making his début there on 22.11.16.
Daniel D. BROWN – midfield, 28
A powerful player who began at Maidenhead United, where he spent 3 years, and then enjoyed a very successful period in the Conference South with Wealdstone—confusing some Swans fans as his run of goals began just as our unrelated player of the same name left Wheatsheaf Park. He then went on to Wingate & Finchley in the summer of 2015, playing 23 league and cup games (1 goal) for them until opting to join Staines in February 2016. ’Brownie’ is the son of Assistant Manager Dereck Brown.
Elliott BUCHANAN – forward
Earlier in his career, he had spells with Northwood (23 goals in 26 games), Stevenage Borough (with loans at AFC Wimbledon and Boreham Wood), Concord Rangers, and Slough Town (24 goals in 46 games, Player of the Year and Golden Boot winner). Elliott cemented his reputation as a prolific scorer with Hayes & Yeading United and Newport County, bagging 21 goals in 58 starts during his two seasons with these clubs, and then switched to Boreham Wood in June 2012, then to Bromley four months later, before a return to St Albans City. Originally joined The Swans in September 2014, but then moved on to Chelmsford City. Scored 34 goals for Bishop’s Stortford in 2015/16 and was the top scorer in Vanarama South, before transferring to Margate for last season, and returning to Staines in summer 2017.
Jeremiah CHONG – winger
Jerry moved to England at a young age, having been born in Australia, and spent time with Kingstonian, Leatherhead, and Tooting & Mitcham United. Joined the Staines Town Academy in September 2015, and earned his first senior outing a month later. Appearances last season were restricted by a series of injuries, and on his return to fitness for the start of 2017/18 he dual registered at Uxbridge.
Tom COLLINS – midfield / striker, 24
Came to Wheatsheaf Park in late February 2017, having impressed when lining up for Enfield Town earlier that season. Made his début for the Swans as a second half sub against Worthing, and scored within 4 minutes of coming on! Thomas’ previous clubs include Hampton & Richmond Borough, Metropolotan Police, and Walton Casuals.
Lewis DRIVER – striker
Started with Holyport FC, and was then at Maidenhead United, before a switch to Southern League Burnham. From there he joined Harrow Borough in May 2014, and became a regular in their side which achieved creditable performances in the FA Cup and Isthmian Premier. Came to Staines Town in summer 2017. A carpenter by trade.
Tom GILBEY – full-back, 23
Tom has recently finished his studies at Durham University, and while in the north-east he signed for Northern League club Whitley Bay, where he made his début in a 4-0 win over Chester-le-Street Town on 3.1.2017. His goal against Seaham Red Star earned the fullback his club’s Goal of the Season award for 2016/17!
Mitchal GOUGH – central defender, 22
Formerly with neighbours Ashford Town (Middlesex) where he started in the Under 9s, and also had early stints at Chelsea and Fulham. He followed this with a couple of seasons at Hampton &RB nursery club Epsom Eagles, and then had a year with Wycombe Wanderers. He gained rep honours with Surrey, helping them to reach the semi-finals of the FA County Youth Cup. Upon his release from Wycombe, he spent a year doing a Sports BTEC at the renowned Hartpury College, and while playing for them they completed a League, league Cup, and National Colleges’ Cup ‘treble’, and was also in the England Colleges squad. Had a two seasons in the Southern League with AFC Hayes, and then split the 2014/15 season between Arlesey Town (playing under Rufus Brevett) and a return to Ashford. ‘Mitch’ signed for the Swans in July 2015, and was awarded a contract that Christmas. Following 18 months blighted by injury, he had a loan spell with fellow Isthmian Premier club Merstham in March/April 2017.
Nebay HAILE – striker
An Eritrean born forward who earned his call-up to the First Team after a series of impressive performances since joining the Academy in June 2015 from Santley United. A Westminster Schools rep who played for St Andrews and had 3 months at the Millwall Academy. Has represented the Middlesex FA U18 side in the FA County Youth Cup, helping them win the competition in season 2016/17.
Greg HAYDON – centre back, 22
A youth team player at AFC Wimbledon and Woking, he entered senior soccer with Dorking Wanderers, s stint that was bookended by extended injuries. He was with Guildford City last season, and came to Staines Town in July 2017 Greg is also comfortable playing as a full back.
Jonathan ‘Cash’ HIPPOLYTE – forward, 23
Joining Staines Town at the end of February 2016, soon after his father became Manager at Wheatsheaf Park, ‘Cash’ had previously been playing across the bridge at Egham Town. Prior to that, he had served Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Ashlee JONES – goalkeeper, 30
An experienced 6’1” tall ’keeper who joined Staines Town in July 2017 Beginning at Southampton, where he was part of the squad that reached the 2005 FA Youth Cup final, he subsequently appeared for Rushden & Diamonds, Basingstoke Town, Harrow Borough, Potters Bar Town, Crawley Town, Fisher Athletic, Kingstonian, and Wycombe Wanderers. He signed for Darlington in October 2009, and made his League 2 début a few weeks later vs Notts County, before moving on for two spells at Billericay Town separated by a period with Boreham Wood. He has subsequently played for Canvey Island, Lowestoft Town, Leiston, and Chesham United.
Ben MARTIN – centre back, 34
Brief stints at the Club in 2007 and 2016 (dual registered from St Albans City) make his July 2017 return to Wheatsheaf Park a third spell at Staines for the towering 6’7” defender. He began with Barton Rovers U18s and Harpenden Town, and then moved on to Aylesbury United, before being snapped up by Swindon Town in summer 2003. After a successful trial and the award of a year’s contract, he played just once for the club, coming on up front in an LDV Vans Trophy tie at Boston United that October. Had loan spells with Lincoln City and Farnborough, and then joined St Albans for the first time in 2004. He had loans with Staines, Leighton Town, and Wealdstone, then a spell at Chelmsford City, before heading back to St Albans, and then onto Welling United. Left City again in 2014, helping Boreham Wood to promotion to the National League, before returning to Clarence Park in 2015.
Chevron MCLEAN – full back, 21
After gaining experience as a junior with Fulham and Aldershot Town, he moved on to Godalming Town, AFC Croydon Athletic, and Merstham, before signing for Southern League Premier side St Neots Town in November 2016. He is an athletic, attacking full-back, who is comfortable on either foot.
Tyrell MILLER-RODNEY – wing back, 23
A former Fulham junior who spent 4½ seasons as a young professional with Brentford, including loans to Boreham Wood and Maidenhead United in the second half of 2014/15. Signed for Hayes & Yeading United at the start of the following campaign, before moving on to Canvey Island, from where he was signed by Staines Town in the first week of Johnson Hippolyte’s tenure as Manager.
Joash NEMBHARD – left midfield, 19
Started with Nascot Wood Rangers, a junior side playing in the Watford Friendly League, and with the Queens’ School (Watford) team. Joash was playing regular senior football with Sun Sports while still an under 18, and indeed while representing the Hertfordshire FA U18 side: his goal for Herts helped them reached the FA County Youth Cup Quarter-Finals in December 2015. He completed that season at Hendon, helping their U18s win the Eastern Junior Alliance ‘Brown’ Division championship. Joash moved on to Chesham United in 2016, working through the Reserves to gain a First Team place, and switched to Staines Town in July 2017.
Josh WEBB – defence / midfield, 27
Started as a Reading junior, this son of former England international Neil Webb subsequently appeared for Weymouth, Farnborough, Eastleigh, Basingstoke Town, Hemel Hempstead Town, Walton & Hersham and Hungerford Town. After a spell with Burnham, he moved to Harrow Borough in February 2015, and from there came to Staines in July 2017.
Max WORSFOLD – midfield / full-back, 24
Young, former Aldershot Town pro’ who gained considerable Conference South experience whilst on loan from The Shots at Basingstoke Town, Maidenhead United and Dorchester Town in 2012/13. As a youngster, he was briefly with Staines Town Juniors, and then spent over 6 years with Mole Valley Predators. Played 155 times for The Swans, many of them as captain, between 2012 and 2015, before leaving for a season at Hayes & Yeading United. He returned to Wheatsheaf Park in the summer of 2016.


Arberi BREGU – winger
‘Arbz’ is in his second season with the Club, having joined from Woking in summer 2016. As well as trials with Barnet, Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic, and abroad with Dinamo Bucharest, he has also played for the Conquest Academy and Halliford Colts. Comfortable on either the left or right wing.
Michael DWANE-HOLDEN – midfield
Michael started with Old Actonians in the U14s, and then had two seasons at Ruislip Rangers, before spending the 2015/16 campaign with Pitshanger. Joined Staines Town in June 2016. Usually operates in the centre of midfield.
Rhys JONES – right wing / centre midfield A local lad who joined Staines Town’s Academy from Woking in summer 2016, and has previously appeared for Conquest (an academy club based in Isleworth), Halliford Colts, and Yeading Wanderers.
Billy ORAM – midfield
Billy started his career with AFC Wandsworth, whom he helped to league success, and then went on to play for Links FC. From there he joined the Staines Town / Kingston Academy in June 2014, and made his First Team début just over a year later in the opening pre-season friendly victory at Tooting & Mitcham United. An attack minded player who operated anywhere across the midfield
Julian SCHWARZER – goalkeeper An Australian goalkeeper who joined Staines Town in September 2016 on a dual-registration from Fulham, and instantly became the Academy’s first choice for the number 1 jersey, helping them to runners-up medals in both the Isthmian Youth League (West) and Middlesex Senior Youth Cup.
Jack VINCENT – left back
Jack is in his third season with the Academy, having stepped up from Staines Town Juniors in June 2015. A left footed player who has represented Surrey Schools.
Sam WOOLFORD – goalkeeper
Promising young ’keeper who joined Staines Town from neighbours Bedfont Sports in October 2016. Had early spells in the academies of both Brentford and Aldershot Town, and later played for Abbey Rangers and Hanworth Villa.



Brannon DALY – goalkeeper, 22
A 6’3” tall stopper and local resident who was at Metropolitan Police in 2016/17, and has previous experience with Whyteleafe, Merstham, and Walton Casuals.
