Chertsey Town 2 Swans 9 …

Swans made the short journey to Alwyn’s Lane to be put to a pre-season test by Combined Counties side Chertsey Town. On a wet, wet, wet Saturday afternoon the headlines could well have been ‘Bang On Buchs’ as new signing Elliot Buchanan scored 5 times in a 9-2 victory. With another new signing Lewis Driver scoring a hat-trick and ‘new daddy’ Mitchal Gough scoring it was a good afternoon all round for Drax.

Following Tuesday’s loss at Aylesbury FC Drax named a much stronger starting line -up and as early as the 2nd minute Elliot Buchanan slotted in at the far post to convert Worsfold’s cross after a darting run. The Curfews equalised immediately as Makudi benefits from a slip in the Swans defence. So that’s 1-1 with just 3 minutes gone! 2-1 to the Swans as Lewis Driver heads home from close range off Worsfold’s corner and then 3-1 to the Swans as Elliot Buchanan bags his second. Some great quips from Stuart on Twitter #raininggoals as the classy finisher hits home from the edge of the box and some good build up play by Max and Bayley.  A penalty converted by record goalscorer John Pomroy brings the hosts back to 2-3. Elliot Buchanan then completed his hat-trick with a cheeky, lobbed finish. With 24 minutes played, it’s Curfews 2 Swans 4!  5-2 to the Swans as Lewis Driver grabs his second, cleaning up after Buchanan’s flick from Worsfold’s cut-back ball into the box.

Half time and 5-2 to the Swans. But on 57 minutes it’s 6-2 to the Swans as Elliot Buchanan nets his fourth with a cool finish from a slide rule pass through.  Joash Nembhard replaces Gilbey on 65 minutes. Still 6-2 to the Swans. Soon it’s a hat-trick for Lewis Driver as heads home from Josh Webb’s excellent cross. So that’s 7-2 to the Swans! Haile and Hippolyte replace Driver and Collins on 72 minutes. On 74 minutes, Elliot Buchanan bags his fifth! Daniel Brown sets up the next and Elliot rounds the ‘keeper to make it 8-2! On 78 minutes, Mitchal Gough’s bullet header from another terrific Worsfold cross makes it 9-2 to the Swans.

Full time at Alwyns Lane finishes 9-2 to the Swans. Five for Buchanan, three for Driver and one for Gough.

Swans starting XI: Jones, Webb, Gilbey, B.Brown, Gough, Brewer, Driver, D.Brown, Buchanan, Bettamer, Worsfold. Swans substitutes: Hippolyte, Nembhard, Collins, Ahmidi, Haile, Daly (GK).

Next Up … Uxbridge FC [A] on Tuesday evening …
