Staines Town Academy 2015/16 …

So the season has finally come to an end for our U18/U19 & Futsal Academy. What a season it has been for our boys, from winning trophies, being involved with the first team & scoring for the first team.

Our U18 squad have been exceptional this season securing the double, winning the Ryman West Youth League and the Lucas Fettes Cup. They were also unlucky to lose to Hayes & Yeading in the Final of the Middlesex Youth Cup conceding in dying seconds of the game. We also were second best to Sutton United in the Semi Final of the Champions of Champions Play Off. Mark Fabian & Jim Wigmore have done a fantastic job with these boys only losing one game in the league and securing the double. We now hope that we can go on further next season and achieve and win more!

Our U19 have had a very good season as well the U18s this year competing in the Conference Youth Alliance League. It was our first season in this league and it didn’t go to the best start losing the first four games. But after a change around and giving it a good go we put things right and ended up having a good run in the league and finishing 6th for our first season! Hopefully next season we will have a much more stronger squad and give it a good go challenging for the league!

Our Futsal Academy was our new setup introduced this year by our coach Andy Maciel. We was put into NCA NATIONAL FUTSAL LEAGUE (South) which was held in Swindon every month. We managed to win all of our games and finish top of the league unbeaten! We then had a tournament in Reigate at East Surrey College which we played two of our teams which our A team won the tournament winning all of our games and our B team coming in 3rd place! It has been very good for the boys to try something new this season and good experience into the Futsal Industry.

It has been a very successful year for our Academy and it can only get better next year. Also now that we have a twitter account set up earlier in the season we can now tweet about fixtures and news about the academy so make sure you follow our every move by following @Staines_TownFC

We would like to thank Martyn Spong, Mark Fabian, Jim Wigmore, Andy North, Andy Maciel for all their hard work and commitment this year otherwise it wouldn’t be possible to have such a strong and organised Academy.

Just a special congratulations to some our Academy boys this season!
