Academy lose at Sutton United …

McAllister academy

Swans Academy were up against it at Green Gander Lane and were under pressure for long periods in the early stages, however Emmanuel Mafuta powered through to put Staines ahead on 29 mins. Harry Towner equalised from an unstoppable penalty on 35 minutes for Sutton and then Dinos Kalognomas headed Sutton ahead following a free kick to make it 2-1 to United at half time.

A long throw was headed over and beyond keeper Hill by Jeremiah Chong to make it 2-2 before the game turned with Swans skipper Noakes sent off for a second yellow on 66 minutes. Incredibly Towner skied the penalty.  2 mins later Towner was left in space to put Sutton back in front 3-2.  A Tom Mallett header and a superb individual strike by Callum Phillip made it 5-2 at the whistle.

A massive year for our Academy and one in which the club are seriously proud. Well done to all. ‘The future’s bright’…
