Brilliant Academy do the Double …

Swans Academy U18 squad achieved the League and Cup Double with a 4-3 victory over Ashford United [Kent] at Sutton United last night [Thursday]. Massive credit to Mark Fabian, Jim Wigmore and the boys who have had a great season and have played some fantastic football.

On 19 min Deshane Dalling hit post after good ball from Alfie Taylor but it somehow stayed out. On 23 min Callum Howland found space in the box to put Ashford ahead 1-0. Great spirit and tenacity by Alfie Taylor saw him through and shoot the equaliser for the Swans. Howland put Ashford back on front on the strike of half time. The Swans started to take control in the second half and on 60 mins  Taylor had a shot blocked, Dalling fired it back in hit bar and post and crossed the line. The Twitter feed lit up when ‘ever present’ Swan fan Andrew Ashley tweeted … The DOUBLE is on as take a 4-2 lead against .  Lewis Collins came off the bench for the injured Dalling, and within seconds his first touch found the net from a Callum McAllister free kick.  In time added on [90+2] a Harry Lavender free kick for Ashford took a big deflection and flew in to make it 4-3 for the young Swans …

The Club Directors, Players and Staff would like to congratulate the Academy set up on this great success …
