Swans players and officials were buzzing after the 2-0 win against Merstham – and boss Johnson Hippolyte reckons the hard work is starting to pay off.
A second successive Ryman Premier win was achieved for the first time since August and he joked: “I said to the lads the last time this club had back-to-back wins I was still a virgin.” On a more serious note, jovial Hippolyte – who qualified his gag by saying perhaps it wasn’t actually that long – added: “It’s been a lot of hard work. We are now starting to see the fruits starting to blossom, or the flowers, as they say.
“We know what we need to do. I’m not singing my praises but we know a player, we know where we need to strengthen and to get a team that’s more competitive and I think we’ve done that. “Good players win matches and make me look a good manager. I wish it had happened before Christmas and we might have been in the play-offs but that’s a discussion for another day.”
