Swans restored the faith with a 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers VCD Athletic on Tuesday evening on a frosty, bitterly cold Wheatsheaf Park pitch. It was that man, Pat Cox, who sealed the match with a great finish to a perfect Jack Bennett cross. Bennett was a constant threat to the Greens as he ran himself ragged all evening.
The Swans hit the bar, through Bennett, the post through Pat Cox and saw sub Michael Campbell very unlucky after throwing himself at eveything after coming on for Prince M’bengui. Jack Turner again excelled in goal with some great saves but more importantly a command of his area. With all 4 new signing on the park at the start and with a growing support network Johnson Hippolyte did what was asked and turned the fortunes of the club on his home debut.
All the new signings settled well and looked incredibly strong, something we have been missing this season, and with Tommy Brewer steadying the squad and pushing forward all evening it was a satisfactory night for the Swans.
Level at half-time the Swans came out and sealed it within 3 minutes of the restart and then held and controlled the ball to secure all 3 points.
Swans now host Enfield Town on Saturday.
